Welcome to the Mandala Square Crochet Tutorial for the Patchwork Medley Blanket
Today, we’re diving into the third square of our Patchwork Medley Blanket series! This design is a remake of my original Mandala Square, which I created a few years ago. It has remained one of my personal favourites—and, from what many of you have shared, it’s one of yours too!
For this version, I’ve made a few adjustments to ensure it fits seamlessly with the other six squares in the series. The video tutorial for this square is a slow and detailed walkthrough, so you can crochet right along with me at a comfortable pace. The video is linked at the end of this post.
When I first released this square, I noticed that some crocheters found Rounds 7 and 8 a bit tricky in terms of stitch count. To make things easier, I’ve clarified these rounds to ensure everything flows smoothly.
Once you have all 7 squares, you can mix and match them any way you want, as they will all work out to the same size with the same number of stitches around the last round of every square.
This Patchwork Medley series was inspired by the many requests I’ve received on how to combine my different Granny Square designs into a single blanket. So, I’ve selected six of my favourite squares, reworked them to fit together using the Join As You Go (JAYGO) method, and added a brand-new square to the mix called the Fusion Granny Square. That makes a total of seven squares in this series, and we’ll finish it all off by joining them together into a cozy and eye-catching blanket.
