Daisy Crochet Square for Patchwork Medley

Daisy Crochet Square

We’re onto the sixth square in the Patchwork Medley Blanket Series, and this one is a refreshed version of my classic Daisy Crochet Square—tweaked to flow seamlessly with the rest of the blanket. You might recognise it from previous tutorials—it’s been a favourite, and I even created an entire blanket series using just this square (you can find that series here).

For this version of the Daisy Crochet Square, we’re taking things slow with real-time crocheting, and I’ve expanded the design with several brand new rounds to increase the size and bring it in line with the style of the Patchwork Medley Blanket. These changes give the square a fresh look while still keeping that familiar floral charm.

This series came about because so many of you asked how to combine my different Granny Square designs into one cohesive blanket. I’ve selected six of my favourites, added a brand-new one, and adjusted them all to fit together beautifully. Once all seven squares are complete, I’ll walk you through my JAYGO method to join them seamlessly for a cozy, stylish finish.

If you’re just jumping in, the first five squares are already up on the blog, and I’ve put together a handy YouTube playlist so you can follow along from the beginning.

Materials You’ll Need

For this project, I’m using worsted weight yarn in five colours, but feel free to choose your own colour palette.

Here’s what I used for my version:

The Colours I’m using today for this Daisy Crochet Square are the same colours I will use throughout the Patchwork Medley Blanket

One of my Favourite Places to order yarn online is Mary Maxim Yarns – they carry a nice variety of colours and brands at affordable prices, and they also offer great coupons to inspire you to keep coming back for more, because can you really have too much yarn?

Hook:  5.00 mm  US 8 / H
My Favourite Hook is the Susan Bates Ergonomic Silvalume

Patchwork Medley Blanket

Other Supplies:

  • Scissors
  • Yarn needle for darning in ends

Gauge / Finished Size of the Daisy Crochet Square

8.5 x 8.5 inches / 21.5 x 21.5 cm

One small change to note: in earlier versions of the Daisy Crochet Square, I used 2 chains between the double crochets in the first round, but in this one, I’ve opted for just 1 chain. I found it helped draw the centre in a little more, especially for a larger square like this. Both options work, though—so go with what feels right for your tension and style. That’s one of the things I love most about crochet—it’s so adaptable!
