Today, I am going to walk you through how to craft this stylish and easy crochet coaster. These serve as excellent portable projects, ideal for quick pockets of creative time and a great way to use up your yarn stash. This one is a really great beginner project too.
Coasters remain versatile year-round, making them a must-have addition. They prove invaluable for outdoor patio relaxation and essential during the holiday season when hosting gatherings for friends and family. They are a quick and easy project, perfect for beginners. It is fun to play with colour combinations so you can customize them in your own home decor shades, vibrant summer hues, and, of course, to suit any holiday theme. Additionally, they make wonderful housewarming gifts, a request I frequently receive.
Today, I will be using worsted weight, acrylic yarn, for its ease of washing, but cotton yarn is also a fantastic choice. I’ll be using a 5 mm hook to create a slightly denser texture for my coasters. However, when making the placemat version, I prefer a 5.5 mm hook to give it a little more flexibility and an airy feel. Feel free to experiment and select the hook that suits your preferences best.
This piece comprises six rounds and offers the flexibility to incorporate as many or as few colors as you desire. Again, great for stash busting.
For my project, I’ve selected four colors: an off-white shade, a warm golden beige, a pop of turquoise, and a rich brown.
