Expressive Style: Crochet Adelaide Granny Square

Today we are getting our colour vibe on and we will be making the vibrant Adelaide Granny Square.  I will be working her in some vibrant jewel tones today.    I love playing with colour and this palette works really nicely with this square.  But I encourage you to try your own colour combinations as well, as these square take on completely different looks depending on the colours you use.

If you’re looking to explore more captivating color combinations for your squares, hop on over to my Instagram and Pinterest. I love sharing lots of pics of my colour experiments there!

The Adelaide Granny Square starts with a center circular piece for the first 7 rounds, with simple stitches and chain spaces.  Then on round 8 we square it off and add a few more rounds for border effect for a total of 12 rounds.

My finished sample square measures 9″  This square can be easily changed in size, just by adding or subtracting border rounds.

I will be using 5 colours today and changing my colours every round.

My square will be using an off white, a green, a gold, a red and a nice vibrant copper.

I will be using a worsted weight yarn and a 5.5 mm crochet hook.

Other tools you will need are a pair of scissors and a darning needle to work in your ends.

So, pick your favorite colours, gather your supplies, and let’s begin crafting our Adelaide Granny Square
