Hey Gang, Jane here with another crochet tutorial. This is the first of a 3 part video series where I will be working you through the steps to create a small crochet throw out of one of my more popular squares, the Daisy Square.
I frequently get asked about how I join my squares and assemble my crochet throws. So although I am using the Daisy Square as my square of choice for this series, you can apply these techniques to most any granny square.
In today’s tutorial, I will be showing you an alternative version of my Daisy Square that I used for this crochet throw. Since I already have a tutorial on how to make the Daisy Square, which you can find here, I will be starting this tutorial part way through the square. This version changes up only the last three rounds of this square to create a different kind of border and one which I like to use to create my most of my crochet throws. So I will be starting with a Daisy Square that already has the first 5 rounds completed as these rounds are the same as the original pattern. The Full New Pattern version is below.
I will also show you how I work my ends in as I go on these rounds. It is difficult to hide the ends when you are working a lacey edging with all the spaces, but I will show you the trick to hiding them in your work, as you crochet. We will also discuss how many squares we will need to make for this crochet throw.
In the second video in this series I will cover how I join my squares and in the third video we will finish up our crochet throw with a beautiful border to frame our squares.

I will be working this piece in three colours. I will be starting this tutorial with a square that is already worked up to round 5. The Full pattern is below, but if you would like a video tutorial for these first 5 rounds check out my original post for it HERE
The Daisy Square consists of 8 rounds and as with all my pieces, you can use as many or as few colours as suits you.
In today’s tutorial, I’ll be using Green as my main colour and White, Off White and Beige as my contrast colours. I’ll be changing colours with each row.
I will be using a 5.oo mm hook, but feel free to go up to a 5.5mm if you want a slightly looser square or if you tend to be a tight crocheter. When working my crochet throw patterns, I like to keep my squares on the looser side to give lots of space and movement to my blankets.
In addition to yarn and a hook, you’ll also need a pair of scissors and a darning needle for this project.
So, pick your favorite colours, gather your supplies, and let’s begin crafting our Daisy Square getting ready for our Crochet Throw.
